( 33 ) However, a potential activity with observational anti-microbial intercession is that since sepsis is non the outcome of an individual pathogen, the utilization of exact anti-toxins may non spread the pathogen doing the infection or unwellness. Wide range anti-toxins may ‘bide cut ‘ until blood human advancements and proper testing should be possible inside a clinic scene. The flow look into proposes that the anti-infection decision used to deal with conditions, for example, sepsis profoundly affects persistent outcomes ( 34 ) and this is other than the case with inconsistent anti-infection treatment, where the attacking pathogen is non being usefully treated. ( 31 ) regarding the observational mediation, there are a wide range of signifiers of pathogens that can do sepsis, including Staphylococcus aures, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Difference Between the UK, Great Britain, and England

While many people use the terms United Kingdom, Great Britain, and England interchangeably, there is a difference between them—one is a country, the second is an island, and the third is a part of an island. The United Kingdom The  United Kingdom  is an independent country off the northwestern coast of Europe. It consists of the entire island of Great Britain and a northern part of the island of Ireland. In fact, the official name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The capital city of the United Kingdom is London and the head of state is currently Queen Elizabeth II. The United Kingdom is one of the founding members of the United Nations and sits on the United Nations Security Council. The creation of the United Kingdom heralds back to 1801 when the unification between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland led to the establishment of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. When southern Ireland gained independence in the 1920s, the name of the modern country then became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.   Great Britain Great Britain is the name of the island northwest of France and east of Ireland. Much of the United Kingdom consists of the island of Great Britain. On the large island of Great Britain, there are three somewhat autonomous regions: England, Wales, and Scotland. Great Britain is the ninth largest island on Earth and has an area of  80,823 square miles (209,331 square kilometers). England occupies the southeast portion of the island of Great Britain, Wales is in the southwest, and Scotland is in the north. Scotland and Wales are not independent countries but do have some discretion from the United Kingdom with respect to internal governance. England England is located in the southern part of the island of Great Britain, which is part of the country of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom includes the administrative regions of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Each region varies in its level of autonomy but all part of the United Kingdom. While England has traditionally been thought of as the heart of the United Kingdom, some use the term England to refer to the entire country, however, this is not correct. While its common to hear or see the term London, England, technically this is also incorrect, as it implies that London is the capital of England alone, rather than the capital of the entire United Kingdom. Ireland A final note on Ireland. The northern one-sixth of the island of Ireland is the administrative region of the United Kingdom known as Northern Ireland. The remaining southern five-sixths of the island of Ireland is the independent country known as the  Republic of Ireland (Eire). Using the Right Term It is inappropriate to refer to the United Kingdom as Great Britain or England; one should be specific about toponyms (place names) and utilize the correct nomenclature.  Remember, United Kingdom (or the U.K.) is the country, Great Britain is the island, and England is one of the U.K.s four administrative regions. Since unification, the Union Jack flag has combined elements of England, Scotland, and Ireland (although Wales is omitted) to represent the unification of constituent parts of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

BUSINESS LOYALTY Essay Example For Students

BUSINESS LOYALTY Essay Brand Loyalty Brand loyalty-that certain something that makes a consumer keep buying over and over again-is an elusive quality. It begins with the consumers preference for a product on the basis of objective reasons-the drink is sweeter, the paper towel more absorbent. The brand name is the customers guarantee that he/she will get what they expect(Fisher). As far back as companies go the main question asked when selling their product, how can I get people to purchase my product? This is still a very important issue in the day- to- day operations of any company, but now they are asking a whole new question. In todays fast changing markets, where people are bombarded by advertisements everywhere, people are starting to realize that they dont need to stick with one product for life, and they see that there are many substitutes available. As a result of this new type of market, companies have started to put a large effort towards the development of Brand loyalty. I shall explore the topic of Band loyalty and explain its importance in todays business market, and how it motivates a consumer to purchase a given product or service. The phrase Brand loyalty refers to consumers sticking with a brand out of feeling of commitment for that brand. ;Consumers attachments to certain brands are so powerful that this loyalty is often considered as a product attribute in and of its self(Solomon). Solomons quote, is showing the attachment that people feel when they purchase a product for a long time, and are still very happy with it, is a huge plus in its self. People enjoy the luxury of not having to scavenge around the supermarket in search of a new product. Brand loyalty is also very attractive to the companies since they enjoy their work being easier, and less costly. It is less expensive and less time consuming to keep old customers, rather than spend money and time advertising towards new ones. Furthermore, companies with faithful customers tend to be less susceptible to economic down turns or new competitors(Harrell). There are numerous ways that a company can create Brand loyalty. When the consumers can name the brand for themselves, they are more likely to care about it. To help create that relationship many companies create an entire culture around their brand. By giving the consumer some degree of culture in addition to the product you are raising the level of devotion and satisfaction for the consumer. Ben Jerrys for example created a culture of Hippie-era values and activism, this is one of the main reasons for their continued success. Another way to create loyalty is to make donations to charities; these companies might say that a percentage of the money would go to a specific charity. This makes the consumer feel better about the amount of money they spent, and they also will feel good about the company for being charitable, which in return will create Brand loyalty. With the ever-growing concern for the environment many consumers now look for companies that take conservation in mind when they make their products. For example many car manufacturers are starting to make cars that are friendly towards the environment. This not only attracts people to buy the car, but it also tends to make them loyal to that brand. Customer service is another attribute that can create Brand Loyalty. When people have problems, or questions about a product that they have purchased, or plan to purchase it is good to have people available to field their questions. This makes people feel that the company cares about them, and that they are not alone when they have a problem. This is the kind of personal attention that the consumer values therefore making them loyal to a company. The best kind of loyalty is Brand insistence, this is when the buyer insists on a particular brand, and wont except any substitutes. Grapes of wrath 2 Essay This is more common when dealing with specialty items such as designer clothing, and brand name prescription drugs. Examples of Brand insistence can also be see in simple situations like when you go to the movies, and you ask for a Coke, but they only have Pepsi. A person .

Before embarking on the academic qualifications of the candidate, it is profound to highlight the job description criteria that the new Deputy Minister will be expected to deliver while in office. To begin with, the Deputy Minister (DM) will have to ensure that there is thorough compliance with the local, state and national laws that govern the emission of hazardous materials from either manufactured products or factories. The new DM will be expected to be in a position to perform the following key roles: Management and development of information systems that can be used in the process of identifying various locations where hazardous materials are being released. The ability to update and deliver training programs for employees in relation to the emission of dangerous wastes and materials. Active supervision of active contracts that are being carried out in external locations. Examples of contracts include the removal and testing of materials that are hazardous. The ability to initiate thorough investigations regarding complaints emanating from employees especially in regards to harmful exposure to air pollutants and hazardous materials. The ability to enhance accurate maintenance of records by junior officials in the ministry . Records that should be maintained include transportation of hazardous wastes, complaint investigations and chemical inventories. Updating the Minister on both the proposed and current control measures that are linked to various areas of assigned programs. Initiating field work activities with the assistance of junior officers in the ministry. Facilitating regular sampling of wastes that may be harmful from factories. This duty should go hand in hand with screening of materials that are likely to contain heavy particles such as asbestos. The ability to initiate and monitor the process of maintaining inspection and operation schedules. It should be noted that while the above roles and responsibilities are supposed to be performed by the junior environmental specialists in the ministry, the DM is expected to possess similar skills and competences so that he or she is thoroughly updated on the daily activity logs at the ministry (Carroll, 1990). As a matter of fact, the DM must have attained various levels of achievements within his or her area of specialization before being appointed in this position. Required general qualifications The Deputy Minister (DM) should possess adequate working knowledge of environmental pollutants such as industrial gaseous emissions, hazardous pollutants that are manufactured in factories and general harmful materials such as asbestos. The DM should also be in capacity to comprehend and fully apply hazardous materials regulations that have been put in place by the government. He or she should possess ample working experience in relation to the processes of inspecting materials that are hazardous. He or she should be well endowed with excellent relationship, communication and interpersonal skills. Desired academic qualifications In addition to the above general qualifications for the Deputy Minister, he or she will also be assessed in terms of the academic qualifications as follows: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in eit her physical or biological sciences from any accredited institution of higher learning. Background in environmental science related subjects like Biology and Chemistry. Natural science specialist will also qualify for this position. Advanced degree certification (masters and PhD) in the above mentioned fields. Additional skills and competences The DM should be thoroughly familiar with the tools used in environmental science. Some of these tools include digital survey patterns, soil probes, rain water samples, and mercury monitors. The candidate should posses the ability to utilize graphics and compliance software, be scientifically analytical and also be able to use map creation in a skilful manner. From the above pools of qualifications, it is evident that the Deputy Minister of the agency should be an individual who is adequately conversant with all the critical environmental matters (Carroll, 1990). He or she should have thorough knowledge of the entire system more than any of the environmental officers who have been deployed in the ministry. Therefore, the above criteria will be the most appropriate to use in appointing the Deputy Minister.Advertising Looking for case study on government? Let's see if we can help you! Diesel engine and Petrol engine ( Comparison ) Essay

Diesel engine and Petrol engine ( Comparison ) - Essay Example Despite their derivation from crude oil, the use of petrol or diesel engine varies according to the particular needs of the consumer who will drive the automobile such as fuel prices, fuel efficiency, fuel economy, running cost, taxes, etcetera (â€Å"Choosing between petrol and diesel†, 2013; â€Å"Buying A Car - Do I Choose Petrol Or Diesel?†, 2012; Foxall, 2012; Ottley, 2010; Work Truck Magazine, 2011). In terms of their chemical properties, diesel is denser than petrol and generates more energy upon combustion (Bloom, 2010). By design, a petrol engine consists of connecting rods, brasses, strap, jibs, cotter and set screws (Narayana, Kannaiah and Reddy 2007, 359). The major difference between a diesel engine and a petrol engine, apart from the different fuels, comes from the way in which fuel is combusted inside the piston cylinder. Fuel in the petrol engine is mixed with air, compressed by the pistons and then ignited by the spark provided from the spark plugs. On the other hand, a diesel engine differs in terms of the stage when air is compressed. As opposed to a petrol engine, air in a diesel engine is compressed first after which fuel is injected and ignited as the air heats up after being compressed (Brain, 2014). This essay will present an evaluative comparison of diesel and petrol engines in terms of their design and functioning. The engine’s compression ratio concerns to the amount to which the gasses can be squeezed into the engine’s cylinder. The higher the engine’s compression ratio the more preferable it is because compression generates high amounts of heat (â€Å"Difference between Diesel and Gasoline Engines†, 2012). Compression involves blending and evaporating the fuel and air molecules, which mix with each other appropriately by being thrusted together into a smaller and tighter area. High compression ratio in an engine enables the generation of greater power by burning fuel and

Developing a Christian Mind Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2

Developing a Christian Mind - Essay Example However, it also means, according to Strongs Concordance (Strong 7965), completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Shalom is a blessing (The Refiners Fire). There are three levels of Christian relationship. We are called to be in relationship with God, with God’s creation, and with others (Lowe and Claiborne). Our relationship with God is the most basic and critical. That relationship was a gift to us, through Jesus, the life-giver. When Jesus ascended to heaven, he left us the Holy Spirit, so that his ministry is still alive, still dynamic, still with us. By tuning into the leading of the Holy Spirit, and responding to that leading, we can stay within God’s plan for our lives. In that way, God is not something far away and external to us, but is internal and immediate. This is the deepest source of peace, of wholeness, completeness, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Shalom is God’s blessing. What that looks like, in operation, is that a Christian reads God’s Word, prays deeply, listens to the silence in which God speaks. The peace, Shalom, shows in action, in word, in expression, in patience, in gentleness, in modesty. It shows in a Christian’s embodiment of all the virtues that lead to the other levels. The next level is a Christian’s relationship to God’s creation. Loving God and feeling his love for us, leads us to a great respect for his creation. In the flight of each flamingo, in the wing pattern of each butterfly, in the purity of snow on a mountaintop, in the startle of lightening, in the reflection of creation in the still surface of a lake, in the mist from a thundering waterfall, in the paw of a squirrel, in the whir of the hummingbird, in the strength of an ant and the

Three Pigs Corporation Essay Example for Free

Three Pigs Corporation Essay * Relevant Facts 1. There are essentially three major categories of hog inventory—live hogs ready for sale, developing animals, and processed pork products. 2. Not all live hogs in other locations that cannot be easily transported and processed at the Company’s main processing plants. As a result, these live hogs must be sold to third parties at spot market prices. 3. There are several factors, including increased supply of pork due to the capture of the Big Bad Wolf, have lead to the declining prices for their live hog on the spot market. * Solution Analysis Complying with the periodicity assumption and the conservative principle, marking inventories down will better reflect the value of the inventory. There are several parts mentioned the inventory impairment in ARB43, Ch.4 Par.9: The rule of cost or market whichever is lower is intended to provide a means of measuring the remaining usefulness of an inventory expenditure. Inventory losses from market declines should not be deferred beyond the interim period in which the decline occurs. There are four alternatives to deal with this inventory case of the Company. i) Under the lower of cost or market method on a total inventory basis GAAP requires that the inventory be written down to the lower of cost or market when substantial evidence exists that market prices will recover before the inventory is sold. A write-down is generally required unless the decline is due to seasonal price fluctuations (FASB Cod. # 270-10-45-6). In this case, if it can be determined that the future prices for lean hogs decline only for a temporary period and will recover before the end of the fiscal year, the inventory could be record on a total inventory basis. However, IRS regulations say the types of items to be included in the same pool should be â€Å"substantially similar.† It seems that the three major categories of hog inventory are quite different products. It is not appropriate enough to put all of them into a single pool. ii) Under the lower of cost or market method based on end product category The method that marking down only live hogs that cannot be processed into pork products seems to be reasonable to some extents. The live hogs processing at the Company’s main processing plants do not need to make cost adjustment because the spot market does not affect their price while the other hogs that cannot be processed have to be marked down to reflect the value. ARB43, Ch.4 Par.11 â€Å"If there is only one end-product category the cost utility of the total stockThe inventory in its entiretymay have the greatest significance for accounting purposes.† However, there are three categories in this case. And the developing animals and live hogs to be processed internally and to be sold to third parties are not different in nature. Even though they will be with different price because of the different processed method, it is not appropriate to evaluate them separately. iii) Under the lower of cost or market method on an individual basis to the extent possible Although there are some advantages to evaluate at the individual level, such as accuracy, it is not a practical way. Firstly, the specific identification method may be practical only in a few situations in which units are costly and can be easily distinguished. The cost of each individual is not identifiable in this kind of complex manufacturing and retailing situation. Secondly, the method may become too expensive to use as the increase of the volume and the cost of record keeping. Thirdly, the amount of profit varies even though the units of inventory are identical. The ability of earnings management is not allowed under GAAP. iv) Under the lower of cost or market method by inventory category To evaluate the impairment of inventory under the lower of cost or market method by inventory category seems to be the most practical and reasonable method in this case. The lower of cost or market method is accurate only if the goods in the inventory are perfectly homogeneous. The Company’s inventory of three categories meets this criterion here. Markups and markdowns do not exist at the same time and all the marked-down items will be sold by the end of this fiscal year. * Conclusion My recommendation is that all hogs are impaired and can be marked down to reflect the value using the LCM by inventory category. Based on the analysis above, this seems to be the most appropriate method that would most accurately reflect the intent of US GAAP. * Interim reporting Interim financial information is essential to provide investors and others with timely information as to the progress of the entity. However, GAAP states clearly that temporary market declines need not be recognized at the interim date since no loss is expected to incur in the fiscal year. If the company recognizes a decline and then reverses it in a later interim period, it should recognize a loss recovery and increase the inventory value by the amount of the recovery, but only up to the original cost (FASB Cod. #270-10-45). In this case, the inventory price is expected to be recovered by the end of this fiscal year and should be sufficient to recover the cost of the Company’s inventory. Such temporary declines do not need to report in the interim report.

On Social Classes In Jane Austens Pride And Prejudice :: essays research papers

In the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, life for the upper-middle class and the aristocracy was simple and comfortable, at least on the surface. Strict manners and “morals,'; that often prevented them from asserting or protecting themselves, bound these two classes of people. Such lifestyles are illustrated quite honestly in Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice. The characters in this novel have comfortable lives on the surface; however, internally they are victims of their social status.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The husband and wife duo of Collins and Charlotte Lucas-Collins are two prime examples of this mentality. Collins, who is a minister, and bound by the social class of his benefactor, Lady Catherine, always puts on a faà §ade that makes him seem much classier than normal when he is around others. He constantly showed off his possessions. Charlotte, Collins’ wife, was not so much his wife by choice, but rather, out of necessity. Charlotte, a twenty-seven year old single woman nearly doomed to remain a spinster for the rest of her life, had to marry soon, and the only man that made a proposal was Collins, therefore she had to say yes.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Mrs. Bennet, the mother of Eliza, always hurriedly rushes about to get her daughters married. Her haste is understandable, partly, because, the Bennet family has no male heir, therefore any daughters left unmarried will be thrust into poverty upon their father’s death. However, most of her rushing seems nothing more than the nagging, useless bickering of a gossiping old biddy.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Mr. Bingley seems not to be a victim per se, but the people around him and their superficial motives tend to cause him harm. His sister, Caroline, causes many people to avoid Bingley because of her snobbishness. Mr. Darcy, though good intentioned, almost ruins Bingley’s most promising marriage conquest by breaking Bingley and Jane Bennet up.

Physiological life-long process Essay

Aging primarily is a physiological life-long process, starting at conception and ending with death (Kart, 1994). Persons grow old whether they like it or not. These changes, both positive and negative, place demands on the aging person’s abilities to cope with and adapt to new life situations. It is a challenge for any given society to assist their aged in coping with the new life situations they are facing. Unfortunately, the rapid social changes taking place in society do not always lend themselves toward helping the elderly meet the demands of their life situations. For one, the attitude toward this population is not helping them cope with it as well. According to historian Fischer, 1977 in Doress-Worters & Seigel, 1994), the old is regarded as useless, unattractive, and unwanted especially in the west. Acknowledging these realities of aging, the current research has been undertaken to study the experience of subjective well-being of senior citizens of Gladys Spellan. This shall be from the point of view of their administrators, particularly on their views on well being and the factors that influence it. Objectives / Outcomes This study therefore, will strive to achieve the following objectives: 1) Understand the experiences of the senior citizens of Gladys Spellman in the home for the aged from the perspective of their administrators: a) Their understanding or idea of well-being b) And the components of well being and factors that influence it. I personally chose this topic because I believe that as more and more elderly are placed under institutionalized care in contemporary society, a study such as this is needed to explore this phenomenon. It would shed light into the subjective lives experiences of the aged from an administrators’ view point. This would also contribute to the literature in this area and serve as groundwork for further studies in this area. This study will explore the subjective well-being (SWB) of the elderly in Gladys Spellmen who opted to live in an institutionalized set up or in a home for the aged by choice. The following framework will be used as a guide in the study: Method The first step in the research was the gathering of secondary data that are pertinent to the current topic, collating literature on the concept of well-being, indicators of the cognitive and affective components, and the factors which contribute towards it. A case study will be used in the current study, focusing on Gladys Spellmen Specialty Center. A semi- structured interview guide has been used in gathering primary data from the administrators of the institution. Interviewing. All the interview sessions with administrators will be one-on-one or individual interviews, for which the researcher has jotted down notes. A session with the participants lasted about 45 to 90 minutes, sometimes with a break in between or without it. The personal information sheet will be completed before or after the interview session with them. The researcher will take down notes while interviewing which shall be thematically analyzed. The supporters of having armed security in our school districts believe that it is a needed layer of security and helps to diminish response time if necessary while keeping children, parents and teachers feeling safer to be in school. The safety of schools have been tested more in the recent years with news coverage of the most recent incident in Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where twenty children and six staff members lost their lives.
